Many of you have asked what the recent federal disaster declaration means for our school.
Because the December wind event has been officially declared a federal disaster, Park City Schools may be eligible to apply for assistance through FEMA’s Public Assistance program.
In simple terms, this program can help reimburse certain costs related to:
Emergency response and safety measures
Damage to public buildings
Repair or replacement of facilities impacted by the event
It’s important to understand that FEMA does not replace insurance. Our insurance claim remains the primary source of coverage, and FEMA may help with eligible costs not covered or that remain after the insurance process.
This is something we are actively working through right now with the State of Montana to determine eligibility and next steps.
As always, we will continue to pursue every available option to ensure we are being responsible with taxpayer resources while addressing the damage safely and correctly.
We will keep the community updated as more information becomes available.
